The deeper you go, the darker it will be, use your flares or any help you can get to make sure you don't fall into the bottomless hole.

Controls are explained in the tutorial or when pressing ESC or Start in the game (Not in the main screen!)

It has full controller support!

lovely game with gorgeous visuals! Although I found that some of the items need a description because I couldn't find any information on it. I also think that having the levels being procedurally  generated could be a fun idea.

I think that a photo mode could also be quite nice because, again, the visuals are beautiful.

This doesn't run on the latest Mac computers and OS.

Very nice concept but controls are just terrible :( Gravity is too strong and character runs too fast.

Struggled with the controls a little,  but the game has a cool, unnerving vibe with a fitting art and music style.

The art is candy to the eyes
and the sound is like a good pizza.
The controls did feel a bit wierd.
Overall hard game. i Enjoyed it!

Thanks a bunch!

Awesome game, would love to see more! Also you can fall more than twice as far as the earth is wide (12712000m)

This game is HARD as it is BEAUTIFUL. I loved the pixel art and the music in the background was awesome too (if not for that I may not continue to push it until the end!).
The things that I annoyed me during my gamepaly were:
1) the ground was sliperry (often leading the character to a dead fall)
2) when the rope touch the a ledge - and the character is beneath it, they often became unable to climb the hope.
3) when the rope is near a ledge the character often let it go as it was on safe ground - and it wan not!

This game is amazing! Difficult, and controls are a bit odd (in my opinion), but the art is fantastic, the mechanics and physics are intriguing. Very nice work! Hope to see a second installment, expansion, or future updates with this one. Procedural generation or a lightweight storyline (akin to Kingdom: New Lands/Two Crowns) would be really cool. And remapping of controls (if they aren't already available. I only played for a short while last night.)

Great game! I'm wondering if any Godot user can reply, is this pixel clamping from the engine or you have to use custom script? Thanks in advance.

(+2)

If by pixel clamping, you mean the fact that every pixel is on a perfect grid, then yes it's a built in feature...sort of.

That's acheived by rendering everything at a lower resolution and then scaling it up before showing it to the player. It's pretty easy to do in Godot, but it requires setting the size you want to render at, and the size of the window (size you want to show to the player). As well as stretch modes. It's barely a minute of config (and the concepts involved aren't that complicated either) , but it's not plug and play.

Thanks!

This game is so amazing I really hope you can make a full version one day, the gameplay, design, and mechanics are so fun! There is no way I can ever beat it in normal mode though haha, I am very grateful you had the exploration option for us slow gamers :)

E' una mia impressione, o la grafica è giusto vagamente ispirata ad Another World? ;-)

Brilliant game! Quite hard, and very satisfying when completed! (117 deaths, 106mins). 10/10 Would recommend

You might want to export the game in release mode instead of debug mode, then it won't have the console

(+1)

Really cool game

(+1)

Hey i just beat your game and i have to say you did a really good job.

what program did you use for this masterpiece?

(+2)

It says Godot under “More Information”! Along with Blender, Aseprite and Photoshop.

(I’m not the type to leave comments but I really love Godot and want it to have more exposure so here!)

(+1)

thanks for replying, I totally missed this post.

Yes. Made with Godot ❤️

The game is extremely beautiful and enjoyable at the concept. But it has some troubles with controls. May be it would be better to have separate binding  for rope grab, beacuse the situation when rope is close to the wall are often and its almost impossible to hook the wall — character grabs rope back. Also its not always obvious which wall you can hook and which not.

Special thanks for full gamepad support :)

Beat it with 26 deaths. Really enjoyable game. I loved it. Great work!

Bellissima atmosfera!

Hello!
The game looks really beautiful
Any idea if you can try distributing the game on https://flathub.org/home ?
If you're interested, see https://github.com/godotengine/godot-docs/issues/2993  for reference on how to do it!

Again, thanks for the awesome game! Looks really cool!
Adding on Flathub could boost visibility amongst Linux users

I LOVE THIS GAME I WOULD TOTALLY PLAY A 2ND PART,  EVEN BETTER THAN FRANZ FURY!

Haha, poor Franz!

(+2)

The graphics and visual are stunning! wow🙌 masterpiece.

(+1)

Harder than it looks, i took me some time before i got adapted, but pretty funny.

Here is my channel if you want to taje a peek / Aquí esta  mi canal por si quieren echarle una ojeada .

Wouldn't recommend: you cannot save your progress. Very glitchy at times. Frustrating.

(+1)

i can´t play it :( is beacause it is in gless3 ?

If you can only run GLES2 games, then it is probably that.

true :(

(+1)

this game perfectly could be to sell it, when will be finished

Will still take a while!

I love the graphics and the atmosphere. Maybe you could add a button to grab, and not the arrow keys, because it's quite difficult to use the ice axe correctly.

EDIT : allright, I just finished the game, and the end let think about a second part in the desert ! Finally I don't think that the ice axe is a problem, but the hitbox is sometime a little bit erratic.

from surface right to the void

too hard... i every time die to the last  jumo to base.

What a beautiful game. Are you still working on the full feature version of Bottomless?

And how did you manage to create this game in a single week? That's incredible! Can you share some tips, what did your workflow look like, etc.?

(+2)

If you are having issues on BIGSUR (Mac). Open a terminal window, copy and paste: sudo chmod -R 755 and then drag and drop the application into the terminal window from your FINDER window, press Return. You have to do this because the OS needs the full path to the file, this is the easiest way to do it! It will ask you to type your password when you hit Return.

BIGSUR broke a lot of apps, including this.

Great Thanks. help me also on Monterey.

Great game! very polished and fantastic art. How did you create the terrain? They look very organic.

Hey, thanks!
It was painted in Aseprite :)

In my recent discovery, this is the best game. The most important thing is that he is pixelated.Very support the author.

I am in love with artwork in the game and think it has potential to be a great adventure game.

Something where you have lots of caverns to explore, each with it own perils to navigate(for example you could have areas full of snow or ice that make getting around more dangerous) , and perhaps resources for you to collect and carry back to camp to upgrade your tools( The ability to have longer ropes, carry more flares

have a Gas mask to go through certain areas, or different tools that work better in certain terrain)

I would love something in this art style that just lets you freely explore caves and mountains and figure out your own way to get around

(+1)

Hey, thanks for the positive and interesting feedback!

(+1)(-1)

The game is pretty good but it needs more content or some arcade mode. The only bad thing is that is too short and it has low replayability

(+2)

It was a gamejam game made in a week 😉

Hey, I like the game concept and atmosphere. I can actually say it is the best quality godot game I've ever played.  Let me leave a negative review to help you; the gravity value in character physics is falling too fast, too much. You can make jumping and falling a little smoother. Also, at the beginning of the game, I waited to encounter enemies to be able to shoot, even if it was a snack. I wish you success.

Hey! This looks really good, but I can't run it on MacOS. I saw the comment about it, but I'm new to itch, so if I could get some additional guidance that would be great! Thank you!

Dev said " did you try running it with:

chmod -R +x Bottomless.app in Terminal"

still not works

I would love to help out, but I don't have a Mac and can't look into the problem you have :(
